Marmot Basin 2017/18 Season

I have been snowboarding for well over 15 years, but before this season, I have never taken a camera on the mountain. Of all the sports I’ve photographed, I’d have to say skiing and snowboarding is one of the most difficult. It’s not just the athlete you’re trying to capture, you also want to show the conditions and the spectacular scenery. The changing light, the type of snow, the technique, the colours of outfits – it all comes into play. Oh and did I mention you’re usually standing on a steep slope in temperatures that sometimes drop below -25°C?
